Introduction to Precious Metal Clay - LIFE 2113

Join us for a fun, introductory class where you will learn to make fine silver jewelry using Precious Metal Clay (PMC). PMC is a material that looks and feels like clay but when fired, you're left with .999 fine silver. We will learn design, construction, firing and finishing techniques to make a beautiful pair of fine silver earrings and a pendant. This class is a pre-requisite for future intermediate PMC classes. Please bring a sack lunch, dust mask, safety glasses and an exacto knife with a new blade.
Jewelry Studio - LIFE 2134

This open studio course is for experienced jewelers with advanced skills. This is not an instruction course and students who do not have the necessary skill level will be asked to transfer to the introductory course being offered later in the semester. Students are responsible for providing all components and consumables for their projects. A safety review and test must be passed before students will be cleared for the use of the equipment.
Herringbone Half Tila Bracelet - LIFE 2136

Learn to weave tile beads into a herringbone pattern. This bracelet is beautiful and very comfortable. We will use half tila beads and #15 seed beads for this project. You may want to bring reading glasses for this class. This slinky bracelet will become a favorite to make and wear.

Topics covered in this class are various types of wire, tools and how to select the perfect stone for your project. All tools and supplies are included in the price.
Precious Metal Clay: Setting Stones - LIFE 2121

Learn to set stones in precious metal clay using three different techniques. We will make a pendant using all three styles of stone setting. Introduction to Precious Metal Clay is a prerequisite to this class.
Intro to Jewelry - LIFE 2135

In this introductory course, students will learn how to design, cut, and polish a cabochon to create a unique piece of jewelry. This guided project will teach students how to safely operate the equipment in the metals lab and provide guidance on what tools to purchase for at-home projects. Each student must bring a pair of safety glasses. All other materials are provided. Students may need to retake this course to attain the necessary skill level for the Jewelry Studio.
